General Summary:

As part of the engineering team of Qualcomm China, focusing on robotics platforms including AMR, industrial robots, and humanoid robots, we are seeking a senior engineer responsible for robotics simulation technologies on Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms.

This role requires strong robotics fundamentals, with solid understanding and hands-on experience in robotics simulation tools, as well as deep understanding of simulation principles and system modeling. The candidate will contribute to building high-fidelity simulation environments for robot development, validation, and AI training.

Responsibilities

The work scope includes but is not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain robotics simulation environments and frameworks for Qualcomm reference platforms.
  • Develop and integrate physics-based simulation using tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Webots, or equivalent.
  • Enable simulation-driven development workflows for perception, navigation, and control algorithms.
  • Support simulation-based validation for robotics use cases such as AMR, delivery robots, and humanoid systems.
  • Build high-fidelity simulation models for sensors (e.g., camera, LiDAR, depth sensor) and actuators.
  • Collaborate with algorithm teams to bridge simulation and real-world deployment (Sim2Real).
  • Work with global and local teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize system-level performance.
  • Support customer engagements by providing simulation-based demos, validation frameworks, and technical guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong experience in robotics simulation or related areas (e.g., game engines, physics engines, digital twin).
  • Familiar with simulation frameworks such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Unity/Unreal, Webots, or equivalent.
  • Familiar with ROS / ROS2-based robotics system integration.
  • Solid background in robotics fundamentals:
    • Kinematics / dynamics
    • Control systems
    • Perception / sensor modeling
  • Experience with Linux development environment.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
  • Good mathematical foundation (linear algebra, optimization, probability).
  • Strong ownership, debugging capability, and teamwork mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Sim2Real transfer, domain randomization, or synthetic data generation.
  • Familiar with perception simulation (camera pipeline, LiDAR modeling, sensor fusion).
  • Experience with autonomous navigation simulation (SLAM, path planning, etc.).
  • Experience in humanoid or multi-legged robot simulation is a plus.
  • Experience integrating simulation into CI/CD or large-scale validation pipelines.
  • Knowledge of GPU acceleration / rendering pipelines is a plus.
  • Prior experience supporting customer projects or reference platform delivery is a strong plus.

Education Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields with 6+ years of experience.

Preferred: Master’s 3+ years of relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
