R&D Engineer (Toner Supplies Solutions)

• This role is responsible for designing engineering solutions, leading project team of other mechanical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions. The role collaborates effectively with management, internal teams, and applies developed subject matter knowledge to drive the development of moderately complex products. The role contributes to process efficiencies and resolves challenges.
Responsibilities
• Designs engineering solutions for mechanical and thermal hardware, electronics enclosures, and production tooling based on established engineering principles and in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines.
• Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, developing fan curves, system power measurements & acoustics.
• Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within their area of experience.
• Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources.
• Leads a project team of other mechanical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for moderately complex products.
• Generates process efficiencies and products that meet necessary business requirements through quality documentation and project management.
• Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents.
• Represents the mechanical/thermal team for all phases of larger and more complex development projects.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.
Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions, implementation across hardware development lifecycle, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.

R&D Engineer (Toner Supplies Solutions)
The NPI Engineer is responsible for the successful introduction of new Supplies products from development into production release. The role focuses on executing Product Lifecycle (PLC) activities, leading validation and test efforts, and ensuring regulatory compliance, specification conformance, product quality, performance, and customer experience are achieved prior to launch. The engineer works cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, systems, Marketing and Partner teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Product Lifecycle (PLC) Management
• Deliver NPI PLC Milestones on time (Design , Mass Trial, Mass Production) to support Product Time to Market
• Provide clear, concise executive updates (status, risk, next steps) for each checkpoints
• Monitor program schedule, risks, and readiness for key release gates
• Ensure all quality criteria and validation exit requirements are met prior to milestones

2. Validation and Test Execution
• Analyse and validate new product designs and enhancements, ensuring strong design integrity, reliability, and user centric performance.
• Conduct functional and compatibility testing (ie Print Quality assurance)
• Ensuring Regulatory Compliance such as ISO page yield delivery
• Track, document, and verify defect fixes through validation cycles

• Analyze test/field data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of validation data and reporting
• Support Partners in product improvements initiatives

• Partner with Hardware, Firmware, and Systems teams to validate integrated product performance
• Drive resolution of cross-functional issues impacting product quality and customer experience

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or related Engineering
• 3–6 years in product, quality, or R&D engineering
• Ability to lead and/or contribute to cross-functional prototype-to-production ramps
• Strong Innovative and Leadership capability
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts, tradeoffs, and status to partners and senior stakeholders________________________________________

• Experience in toner/ink/consumables or similar R&D fields
• Familiarity with FMEA, NUDD and DFM practises
• Data tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI)
