We are looking for an R&D Engineer to join our team onsite in Salt Lake City, UT!

This position is responsible for the engineering work on existing orthopedic devices (protheses, orthotics) throughout their life cycle. This includes coordinating any changes with other global partners who are also affected by said engineering work.

Duties & Responsibilities

Successful job applicants will be able to perform these essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Identify and assess needs and opportunities to improve existing orthopedic devices
  • Analyze cost, business, and complaint data including root cause analyses
  • Design engineering solutions including creation and updating of CAD models, simulations and drawings
  • Define verification and validation activities for changes as needed
  • Collaborate with Operations and other organizational units on the implementation of product improvements
  • Champion and document change orders for the changes
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications – (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensure):

  • Bachelor degree in technical field
  • 3+ years of work experience ideally in an R&D or manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and application of engineering principles with focus on mechanical engineering incl. GD&T etc.
  • Highly skilled in CAD modelling and drawing creation, Creo a plus
  • Knowledge of fiber composite material from design to process
  • Analyze, learn and understand the function of existing products
  • Skilled in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing and adjusting focus as needed
  • Skilled in identifying, anticipating, analyzing and completing improvement activities.
  • Ability to collaborate with different departments as well as working independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
