We have an excellent opportunity for a R&D Chile Project Manager to join our team in Arica!

The R&D Project Manager will have full accountability to deliver business objectives for capital projects from Front-End Loading through Detailed Design & Construction, Commissioning, Return to Operations, Startup and project closeout.

Responsabilities:

Project Management and Project performance:

  • Lead the full project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with the Business Case, execution strategy, and project governance requirements.

  • Coordinate with Functional Leaders and Capital Execution to define execution plans and ensure critical milestones, budgets, and schedules are met.

  • Monitor key KPIs (costs, spending, engineering/procurement progress, construction, commissioning) and ensure timely corrective actions.

  • Oversee construction and commissioning activities, ensuring safety compliance (EHS&S, Process Safety) and operational readiness of the asset.

  • Develop and implement Project Quality and Procurement Plans, ensuring adherence to standards and timely engagement of procurement resources.

  • Ensure site teams are prepared for commissioning and start-up through training, procedure updates, and readiness checks.

People Management (by influence):

  • Build and guide cross‑functional project teams, ensuring roles, capabilities, and resources are appropriately aligned.

  • Identify and address expertise gaps, manage workloads, and promote effective communication across internal teams and contractors.

  • Engage external consultants as needed to support specialized project requirements.

Communication and documentation:

  • Act as the primary interface with stakeholders, maintaining structured communication on project status, risks, and key decisions.

  • Manage the Capital Accounting Authorization process, partnering with Finance on evaluations, reporting, and any required asset write‑offs.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in Project Execution, depending on the type of experience and project size.

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemical, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent.

  • Leadership experience in two or more of the following areas: manufacturing technology, operations, engineering, process development (R&D), project management, or improvement

  • Ability to communicate in different languages (English) is preferred.

  • Residence in Arica

  • Must exhibit strong leadership skills in diverse situations involving engineering, construction contractors, Operations and other stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a line manager for capital Project Teams and to effectively direct and influence leadership.

  • Interpersonal effectiveness in team environments, coupled with good written and oral communications skills.

  • Demonstrated track record of achieving business and project results on capital projects.

  • Demonstrated Technical/ Functional Expertise which requires extensive experience through assignments in Project Controls and Management, Engineering Design, Procurement, Construction, Contract Administration, Business, and Manufacturing.

  • Good organization, prioritization and time-management skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
