Job Title R&D Assistant

Mountville Rubber Company is a custom rubber mixing business that provides internal and external customers with 45 million pounds of un-cured rubber across several industries from two manufacturing facilities in Lagrange, GA. Annual sales in 2024 totaled $60,000,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform formulation trials and prepare rubber compound samples for testing

  • Conduct physical, chemical, and mechanical testing in accordance with established procedures
  • Accurately record, analyze, and report laboratory data
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, and testing standards
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and compliance requirements
  • Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts related to production or material performance
  • Document findings in technical logs and development reports
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Operations teams on research and improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise testing procedures

  • Good reading comprehension
  • Comfortable working in a lab and manufacturing environment

  • Basic data entry and documentation skills

  • Effective communication skills

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 3PM-11PM

The late Emmett Hart established Mountville Mills in 1963 in a small building just outside of LaGrange, Georgia. Hart worked at Callaway Mills for 15 years in the design and development departments before starting his own company with the encouragement of his wife, Nancy.

Emmett and Nancy were among the first seven employees of Mountville Mills. Today, the family-owned business maintains more than 640,000 square-feet in manufacturing plants, and more than 1,000 employees across North America and Europe.

Mountville Mills first expanded by joining forces with The Andersen Company in Dalton, Georgia in 1999. In 2005, Mountville expanded its operations to Ronse, Belgium, where it maintains a manufacturing and sales facility to service the mat needs of its European customers. In 2008, Mountville acquired the North American business unit of Kleen-Tex Industries, Inc. In 2018, the textile rental division of Mountville Mills and The Andersen Company merged to form M+A Matting which serves both U.S. and Canadian customers. Additional members of the Mountville family include Mountville Mills Rubber Company, Logo Mats LLC, Bungalow Flooring, Purple Mustard, Motif, The MatWorks, and Matterly.
