Skills and Qualifications

General Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  1. Shall have attended a Chemical Safety Training Session within the past 12 months.
  2. Shall have attended GMP, FSMA, Food Defense Awareness, and Allergen Training.
  3. Received training in appropriate PCs.
  4. Shall meet all requirements of the SQF Program.
  5. Shall comply with all GMP Requirements.
  6. Shall comply with all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment as defined by appropriate plant procedures.
  7. Shall comply with all Safety Rules and Policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Milk Receiver Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Make sure the back and dome seals are intact and match all corresponding paperwork. Verify the time limit of the wash tag.
  2. After opening the dome cover, inspect for dirt and debris that could fall into the tanker. If necessary, clean prior to opening the inner lid.
  3. After breaking the dome seal, visually check the milk for any off-color or debris and determine if there is any objectionable odor.
  4. Prepare to take samples of the load, using the proper sanitary technique.
  5. Test the load for water, betalactin, and, when applicable, aflatoxins.
  6. All Raw milk receivers shall be certified by the State authorities.
  1. Make sure the Silo is properly drained prior to receiving into it.
  2. Unload the tanker if all of the checks to unload are within standard.
  3. Document all information on corresponding paperwork.

I.e. Silo used to receive the milk.

  1. After the tanker is unloaded, prep the vehicle to wash.
  2. Washing is done by the automated CIP system. Check the chemical concentrations to ensure proper washing. Mark the CIP chart accordingly.
  3. All samples must be kept refrigerated to maintain sample integrity.
  4. Visually inspect the tanker to ensure proper washing, reassemble all hand cleaned parts.
  5. Return all necessary paperwork to the hauler, and re-seal the tanker.

Milk Receiver Safety Practices:

  1. Mindful of surroundings- observant to preventing all workplace hazards. Especially slip hazards.
  2. Lock out Tag out procedures are followed when working on equipment.
  3. Chemical safety- using and storing chemicals according to SSOP and wearing proper eye and skin protection when using
