Job Description

Job Title: Rare Disease Lead

Department: Sales & Commercial – Rare Disease, Czech Republic

Location: Prague

Your impact begins here

As Rare Disease Lead, you will own Novo Nordisk’s Rare Disease business in the Czech Republic – from strategy, brand planning and launches to sales performance. You will build long-term partnerships with physicians, opinion leaders and patient associations, and turn market insight into plans that deliver on and beyond targets. Your decisions will shape how people living with rare diseases across the country can access our innovative treatments and support.

What you’ll bring

You combine scientific grounding with commercial drive, and you are ready to take full ownership of a specialised business. You will bring:

  • A master’s degree in life sciences, such as PharmDr, MUDr or MVDr, or another relevant medical or pharmacy education.
  • 5–7 years of experience managing complex therapy areas across marketing, sales and account management, or business unit development.
  • A proven track record of managing product launches, key accounts and achieving sales targets.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading customer-focused projects, and the ability to lead, coach and motivate a team.
  • Strong business acumen, including forecasting, budget management, return on investment and analysis of market and competitor data.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex product information clearly to healthcare professionals and institutional clients.
  • A data-driven approach, including confident use of CRM and digital, multichannel engagement tools.
  • High ethical standards and a thorough understanding of compliance in a regulated industry.
  • A good level of Czech and English, written and spoken, and a valid driving licence.

Useful, but not essential:

  • Experience in specialised care, ideally rare disease.
  • Experience with pre-reimbursement and reimbursement processes for new products.

What you’ll do

You will have a high degree of autonomy and full ownership of the Rare Disease segment in the Czech Republic, covering sales, marketing and selected medical tasks. You will:

  • Develop and implement strategic brand and business plans for the Rare Disease portfolio, improve life-cycle activities and lead cross-functional launch teams, including engagement with stakeholders in the reimbursement process.
  • Drive sales performance through clear sales strategies, territory and account plans and well-planned field activity – monitoring results closely and acting fast when targets are at risk.
  • Own the Rare Disease budget, sales forecasts, allocating resources where they create the greatest impact.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with opinion leaders, physicians, hospitals, pharmacies and patient associations.
  • Manage, localise and deliver promotional campaigns and materials with regional and medical colleagues and external agencies. Represent Novo Nordisk at conferences, symposia and external meetings.
  • Lead digital and multichannel engagement, using CRM and data insights to reach specialists more effectively and to follow customer insight.
  • Lead and develop team, building frontline capabilities and a culture of innovation.

Who you’ll work with

You will join the Sales & Commercial team in the Czech Republic, reporting to the Director, Sales & Commercial.

Internally, your closest partners will be colleagues in Sales & Commercial, Medical, and Strategy & Marketing, alongside support functions such as supply chain. You will represent Rare Disease in Business Area activities and work with regional colleagues to bring strategic directions into local plans.

Externally, you will partner with physicians, key opinion leaders, pharmacists, hospital managers and patient associations across the Czech Republic.

What you can expect here

This is a role for someone who wants to decide, own it and follow through. You will be trusted with full ownership of a business segment, a budget and a team, and your voice will shape how Rare Disease grows in the Czech Republic.

You will develop by leading launches, working across sales, marketing and medical, and learning from customers and the market outside Novo Nordisk. You will be supported to perform at your best, with clear expectations and a culture that values honest feedback, care for each other and uncompromising standards on quality, ethics and patient safety.
