About the Position

Dexis is seeking a Range Support Technician II to support a large-scale Army test and evaluation program. The project provides data collection, technical writing, computer operations, range scheduling, and administrative support services necessary to execute the government’s test mission.

Support encompasses testing of a wide variety of automotive, combat, electronic, general equipment, and ordnance materiel, with services including data collection and coordination, data compilation and processing, development and management of data collection forms, test monitoring, technical writing and editorial review, reporting, data and software administration, range scheduling, and related operational support.

The Range Support Technician II coordinates scheduling requirements and resources for firing systems and ammunition testing, automotive testing, range training activities, and non-firing mission requirements. The role analyzes schedules for workability and potential conflicts, coordinates requirements among range users, and assists in developing solutions to scheduling and resource challenges.

Work will be performed primarily onsite in Aberdeen, Maryland, with travel to other locations within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) as required by mission needs. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule physical and personnel resources associated with firing systems and ammunition testing, automotive materiel testing, range training activities, and non-firing mission requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and commentary on plans and documents related to assigned projects.
  • Gather information and perform literature searches in support of assigned projects.
  • Assist in integrating range safety and environmental policies into the scheduling process.
  • Assist in scheduling daily tests and related operations and in producing daily, weekly, and projected monthly schedules.
  • Attend scheduling meetings with senior government technical personnel to discuss and resolve daily and long-range scheduling and operational problems.
  • Consolidate and coordinate scheduling requirements from range-area and automotive test-course users, including government personnel, contractors, and tenant activities.
  • Apply established methods, procedures, and techniques, as well as non-standard applications.
  • Analyze schedules to determine workability and identify potential conflicts involving resources, facilities, and other requirements.
  • Use tact and diplomacy to obtain cooperation and assistance during the scheduling process and negotiate trade-offs involving facilities, instrumentation, data, time, and operational restrictions.
  • Assist in developing recommendations to resolve scheduling problems; controversial scheduling decisions remain subject to final government approval.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least sixty (60) credit hours and one (1) year of applicable experience as a Range Support Technician I; OR thirty (30) credit hours and two (2) years of applicable experience as a Range Support Technician I.
  • Applicable experience is defined as knowledge of the government’s work processes and operations, including range areas, automotive test courses, and facilities, sufficient to assist in scheduling projects and operations.
  • Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must possess a high school diploma.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned functions, which may include working in extreme heat or cold, high humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, at heights, and walking distances over unimproved terrain while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be available to support work outside normal duty hours when required by mission needs.
  • Must be willing and able to travel within CONUS and OCONUS as required.
