Under the direction of the Ranch General Foreman, the Ranch Worker is an entry-level position where the incumbent will complete daily labour activities associated with the bison ranch.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focus:
• Complete all daily activities associated with the bison ranch including; animal monitoring, assistance with feeding, watering, checking fences in all active pastures, assisting with fence repairs, maintaining propane water heaters, and bison herd monitoring.
• Perform manual labour work not limited to; hooking and unhooking various implements, loading of seed and fertilizer, loading mineral feeders, lifting posts, snow removal, and grass cutting.
• Assist in bison roundup activities including; operating and securing gates, preparing all handling systems.
• General operator skills
• Work environment in general may involve some exposures to hazards and/or physical risks, which requires following basic safety precautions.
• Working in confined or open areas, around animals, or around various heavy equipment.
• Perform any related and/or additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
• Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
• A valid Class 5 License (or equivalent) is required, along with a satisfactory 3-year Drivers Abstract.
• Use of telecommunications equipment, mobile phone, computer and iPad
• Ability to work alone and with limited supervision.
• Be alert to risks or threats in order to prevent losses before they occur.
• Good physical fitness level; capable of lifting, walking, and performing labour tasks regularly.
• Must have strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Agricultural tractors, Loader, Skid Steer is a requirement.
• Ability to speak, write and read English is required
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
This is a full time position located north of Fort McMurray, AB on Syncrude Site.
Shift schedule: Wednesday to Tuesday / 7 on 7 off / 12 hours per day / Day shift Only.
