RAN Project Manager (Fixed Term to Dec 2027)

Te Tūranga – The Role

At Tait Communications, we design and deliver critical communications solutions that keep communities safe. We are currently seeking a RAN Project Manager to support the delivery of the nationwide Public Safety Network (PSN) programme

This fixed-term role plays a key role in coordinating and supporting the Radio Access Network (RAN) design function. You will work alongside engineering teams, project stakeholders, and customers to ensure the successful planning, tracking, and delivery of design activities across a complex, multi-region programme

You'll bring structure, visibility, and momentum to the RAN design process ensuring deliverables are clearly defined, tracked against the baseline, and delivered to a high standard.

The duties of the role will include:

Project Management & Coordination

  • Provide oversight of RAN design workflows and processes
  • Track progress against project baselines, identifying risks and impacts to schedule, scope, and quality
  • Support prioritization and triaging of design tasks across distributed teams
  • Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) aligned to milestones and deliverables
  • Foster strong, proactive communication with customers and stakeholders to ensure satisfaction

Delivery & Reporting

  • Support the RF Planning and Design teams to enable seamless project execution
  • Coordinate design activities with testing, acceptance, and deployment workstreams
  • Ensure timely delivery of reports and updates to clients and governance groups
  • Track programme performance and contribute to PMO reporting

Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Produce and maintain key project documentation (plans, schedules, risk and issue logs)
  • Manage change requests and support contract variations
  • Prepare work packages for internal teams and external partners
  • Identify and implement improvements to processes, tools, and documentation

Resource & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate resources across regional design teams to meet programme timelines
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and customer agencies
  • Manage dependencies and escalate resource conflicts as needed
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations across deliverables

Team & Programme Support

  • Support the RF Planning Manager and wider PSN team with coordination and administration
  • Ensure effective communication across engineering, delivery, and commercial teams
  • Identify risks early and escalate appropriately with clear recommendations

You are an experienced project professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced technical environments. You bring a structured, proactive approach and are confident working across multiple stakeholders.

What you'll bring:

  • At least 5 years' experience in project management within infrastructure, telecommunications, or technical design environments
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Project and Visio
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate across distributed teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making capability

Desirable:

  • PMP and/or ITIL certification
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in business, engineering, or a related field
