Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Railway Signalling Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia
Key responsibilities:
Coordinate the daily construction activities at the project site with the objective of ensuring all activities comply with project quality plan, specifications and site program. Plans the activities to effectively use resources to meet the construction program. Reviews specification drawing to resolve any discrepancies or conflicts. Monitors materials, equipment and manpower on site to ensure that the appropriate resources are available to meet the construction program timing.
Key accountabilities:
Execute assignments in the office or the field in signal engineering work and associated railway construction activities.
Carry out interpretation of signalling plans, signalling circuit design, control tables and specifications.
Develop methodologies, programs of works and cost estimates.
Conduct validation checking of safety critical signalling designs as directed and check the work of technical staff assigned to the same project in the office or the field.
Supervise works and provide guidance to site engineers and supervisors.
Comply with all Heath Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements and initiatives.
Manage and organise activities in multi-disciplinary signalling projects, plan the execution of construction works in accordance with signalling design plans, construction standards and functional construction documentation.
Ensures that the built signalling system infrastructure is safe, that is constructed to applicable standards, procedures and specifications, and that it meets the construction assurance requirements.
Development of construction ITPs. Provide sign-off for construction certification using ITPs.
Ensure that all construction related tasks and activities are performed by staff competent in signalling construction.
Liaise with TIC /TCC to support the Signalling Construction Handover certificate process and provide assistance to enable testing to commence during the pre-testing/testing phase of the works.
Required skills/knowledge:
Degree in signalling and/or electrical engineering or equivalent engineering qualification which is acceptable for professional membership of Engineers Australia.
5+ years of experience in railway signalling installation.
Familiar with technical documents, drawings and schematics.
Time management, communication, planning and organizational skills.
Knowledge of software tools and technical systems.
Experience in a construction environment.
