Railserve is hiring dependable, safety-focused Railcar Repair Technicians in Indianapolis, IN to support daily rail operations at industrial facilities. This is a full-time, outdoor, hands-on role critical to keeping railcars moving safely and efficiently.

In this role, you’ll work as part of a team to inspect, repair, and maintain railcars in compliance with FRA and AAR regulations. Whether you bring prior rail experience or are looking to grow your career in rail operations, Railserve provides paid training, strong leadership support, and long-term career opportunities.

Schedule

8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Compensation

Starting at $25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Duties

  • Repair or replace defective or worn parts such as valves, hatch covers, components, and gates
  • Inspect railcar components (bearings, seals, wheels, couplers) to determine repair needs
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and ensure proper operation of repaired equipment
  • Record inspection findings and maintenance work performed
  • Remove and install mechanical components using hand tools, hoists, and torches
  • Repair and maintain braking systems
  • Fabricate and install steel or wood fittings using blueprints and manuals
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license (required for FRA-regulated site)
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and perform basic math
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of FRA/AAR regulations preferred
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment (up to ~50 lbs)
