As part of this project for the Bucharest metro, testing and validation activities are critical to ensure the safe and reliable operation of trainsets prior to passenger service.
Tests are performed in real or simulated operational conditions, without passengers, following defined procedures to validate system functionality, performance, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting on metro trainsets and subsystems
Execute functional tests and degraded mode tests
Support commissioning and validation activities
Operate trains and simulate real service conditions to assess system performance
Investigate failures and support root cause analysis
Report and register defects, deviations, and incidents in Failure Management tools
Execute test procedures and ensure accurate reporting
Collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers to resolve technical issues
Ensure compliance with safety, security, and EHS requirements
Maintain effective communication across teams and shifts
Contribute to continuous improvement and feedback processes
Location: Bucharest, Romania (metro project)
Experience as a Test Engineer, Troubleshooter, or similar role in rolling stock, with proven hands-on experience on train systems (metro or trains required – mandatory)
Experience with commissioning, functional testing, or troubleshooting activities
Hands-on experience with electrical and electromechanical systems
Basic knowledge of train subsystems (doors, HVAC, braking, traction/power supply, passenger systems)
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical documentation
Familiarity with electrical test equipment (e.g. multimeter)
Basic understanding of network systems (IP, onboard communication)
Ability to follow structured procedures and report accurately
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
English – mandatory (spoken and written)
