Job Description

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Rail Systems Team Manager in October city we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise in railway systems maintenance and operational performance in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a collaborative and dynamic team of professionals dedicated to ensuring excellence in railway systems management.

You'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing our railway systems, including Signaling, Platform Screen Doors (PSD), Communications, Automatic Fare Collection (AFC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including Operations Control Centers (OCC), Rolling Stock, Infrastructure, and other stakeholders, to ensure seamless system integration, support emergency response activities, and oversee the execution of maintenance plans.

You’ll specifically take care of monitoring system performance and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, but also lead and supervise a skilled team of engineers and technicians to achieve performance targets and continuous improvement.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Managing daily maintenance activities across railway systems assets

  • Ensuring effective execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities

  • Supporting emergency response and major fault recovery

  • Performing failure investigations and implementing corrective and preventive actions

  • Monitoring recurring failures and supporting reliability improvement initiatives

  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve contractual KPIs and QCD targets

  • Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as system availability, MTBF, and MTTR

  • Promoting a zero-incident safety culture and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards

  • Supporting audits, inspections, and compliance reporting

  • Developing and maintaining accurate maintenance records, reports, and technical documentation

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Communications, or Mechatronics Engineering

  • 5–7 years of experience in railway systems maintenance

  • 2–3 years of experience in a supervisory or team management role

  • Proven experience in Metro or Monorail projects with a focus on Signaling systems

  • Strong background in CBTC, telecom, SCADA, PSD, or AFC systems

  • Understanding of maintenance management and asset management principles

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities

  • A proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects aimed at improving urban mobility

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning programs

  • Progress towards leadership roles or technical expert pathways

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
