Job Description

Rail Market Director | Infrastructure (Australia)

Help Shape the Future of Rail at Bureau Veritas

This is a rare opportunity for a respected rail industry leader to help shape the next chapter of Bureau Veritas' rail business across Australia.

Leveraging the strong legacy and reputation of The APP Group and Infrastructure Nation, combined with the global capability and scale of Bureau Veritas, you'll play a pivotal role in positioning our Infrastructure business as a trusted partner across the rail sector.

This is not a traditional business development role.

We are seeking a highly connected rail leader who understands the market, knows where opportunities are emerging, and has the credibility to engage senior decision-makers across operators, asset owners, maintainers, contractors and government agencies.

Your role is to open doors, create opportunities and strengthen market presence. You'll be supported by a team of experienced infrastructure leaders, technical specialists and delivery professionals who will help convert opportunities into successful outcomes.

For the right individual, this opportunity offers the platform to build something meaningful, influence strategy, and play a key role in the long-term growth of the business.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Infrastructure leadership team, you'll be responsible for growing Bureau Veritas' profile and presence within the Australian rail market.

Working closely with senior leaders across the business, you'll identify opportunities, build strategic relationships and help position Bureau Veritas as a trusted delivery partner across rail operations, maintenance, asset management, major programs and project delivery environments.

This role offers significant autonomy, visibility and influence, with the opportunity to help shape a national growth strategy and establish a platform for the next generation of rail capability within the business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Growing Bureau Veritas' profile and market presence across the Australian rail sector.
  • Building and strengthening relationships with senior decision-makers and industry stakeholders.
  • Identifying emerging opportunities across rail operations, maintenance, asset management, major programs and infrastructure delivery.
  • Connecting Bureau Veritas' capability with client needs and future market opportunities.
  • Acting as a trusted industry representative and ambassador for the business.
  • Partnering with technical specialists and infrastructure leaders to pursue strategic opportunities.
  • Supporting major pursuits, client engagement activities and market development initiatives.
  • Helping establish Bureau Veritas as a recognised and credible delivery partner across the rail sector.
  • Creating a pipeline of opportunities that enables the business to grow capability, teams and long-term market presence.
  • Leveraging Bureau Veritas' national and global network to unlock new opportunities and strengthen client relationships.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with senior leaders from rail operations, maintenance, asset management, infrastructure delivery or related sectors who have developed deep and trusted networks throughout the industry.

You may currently be operating in an executive or senior leadership role within an operator, asset owner, maintenance provider, contractor or consultancy.

Most importantly, you'll be recognised as someone people take calls from.

Someone who knows the market, understands how decisions are made, can identify opportunities before they hit the street, and has the credibility to bring people together around a common outcome.

The Ideal Candidate Will Bring

  • Deeply established relationships across the Australian rail sector developed over many years in leadership positions.
  • Credibility and influence with senior decision-makers across operators, asset owners, maintainers, rolling stock organisations and government transport agencies.
  • The ability to identify opportunities, open doors and create meaningful market conversations.
  • A strong understanding of rail operations, maintenance, asset management and infrastructure delivery environments.
  • A strategic mindset and ability to recognise where Bureau Veritas can create value for clients.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to connect people and bring opportunities into the business.
  • A genuine desire to help shape and grow a nationally recognised rail offering.
  • The ambition and capability to play a broader executive leadership role as the business continues to grow.

Importantly, success in this role is not measured by your ability to personally close deals. Success comes from leveraging your network, creating opportunities, influencing conversations and helping the broader Bureau Veritas team convert those opportunities into long-term client partnerships.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

  • Opportunity to help build and shape Bureau Veritas' future rail strategy.
  • Strong credibility through The APP Group and Infrastructure Nation legacy.
  • Backing of a global organisation with significant capability and resources.
  • Direct access to executive leadership and strategic decision-making.
  • Support from experienced technical specialists and delivery teams.
  • Significant autonomy and influence.
  • Opportunity to establish a long-term growth platform for the rail business.
  • A career pathway into broader executive leadership as the business continues to expand.
  • The chance to be recognised as one of the key people responsible for rebuilding and growing Bureau Veritas' rail presence across Australia.
