Job Description

In this role, you'll:

  • Inspect, diagnose, service, repair and maintain passenger trains, systems, equipment and components across the Oscar Fleet.
  • Complete overhauls, fault finding, testing, upgrades, modifications, fabrication, retrofits, rework and general installation activities.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy and certification of all completed work and documentation.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, applying the full range of your trade skills.
  • Operate plant and equipment such as forklifts, lifting appliances and other depot machinery as required.
  • Perform customer service related tasks, including graffiti removal, decal application and seat/window replacements.
  • Collaborate with contractors, Rail Maintainers, Engineering support staff, and report directly to Maintenance Shift Managers and Team Leaders to support fleet reliability and efficiency.

You’ll be part of an experienced team dedicated to repairing the Oscar fleet at Hornsby Maintenance Centre, Sydney.

This is temporary fixed term, full time opportunity for up to 12 months.

About you

You hold a mechanical or electrical trade qualification and bring solid experience in heavy engineering or maintenance. You’re an accomplished fault finder, a strong communicator and a lateral thinker.

You have well developed diagnostic and problem solving skills, enabling you to identify and resolve complex mechanical or electrical issues.

You’re organised, able to prioritise effectively, and demonstrate flexibility, resourcefulness and a high level of initiative.

You work confidently both independently and as part of a team to solve problems and deliver high quality outcomes.
