In this role, you'll:


Working within our Fleet Maintenance Team at Sydney Trains, the primary purpose of our Rail Maintainer is to focus on inspecting, functional testing and repairing of mechanical and pneumatic systems on the Diesel passenger rolling stock at the Sydenham Maintenance Centre. This includes the tasks of Brake and Wheel Examination, component replacement and issuing of Brake Certificates for XPT fleet and other Rolling stock.


The role also encompasses tasks peripheral to core tasks across non-trades fields including assisting Trade Staff carry out maintenance and performing Customer Service tasks relative to the XPT Rolling Stock Fleet.

About you


The role is responsible to carry out Inspection, maintenance and repairs to Mechanical and Pneumatic control systems on XPT trains.


You will issue Brake Certificates for Rolling Stock and assist Trades and other non-trade staff in the maintenance, repair and component changes undertaken on Diesel passenger trains.


You will carry out customer service activities such as painting, graffiti removal, fitting of decals, replacement of seats and windows.


Where necessary you will remove panels, covers, mechanical, pneumatic or electrical equipment under trades supervision to allow access to, or completion of allotted work.


You will also follow defined occupational health and safety policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken in order to ensure own safety and the safety of others in the workplace.
