Job Description

Rail Fleet Logistics & Optimization Specialist

Manage and monitor ADM’s private car fleets to maximize their utilization and minimize associated costs. This role will work closely with various processing and grain divisions to effectively size fleets and position equipment accordingly. Communication, teamwork, & proactivity will be key factors to succeed in a fast paced work environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use Readiness tools to drive results and efficiency (Purpose, Payoff, Preview, Process, Assign roles)
  • Proactively manage and monitor a fleet of roughly 28,000 private cars. Ensure cars are efficiently utilized, by minimizing idle time, increasing RR velocities, & minimizing dead freight.
  • Work diligently (Plan-Organize-Motivate) with all members of the transportation team and all ADM groups to plan and organize ADM’s private car needs. Additionally, develop a plan to add, store or remove cars to match supply with divisional needs.
  • Execute private car diversions for the respective locations being managed to reposition equipment to fulfill plant needs.
  • Assist business units with elevating rail customer service issues for all products and all railroads.
  • Be attentive to assessorial costs and proactively mitigate these expenses.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree
  • Experience in transportation & logistics preferred, but not required
  • Computer competence: Email, Excel spreadsheets & pivot tables, IBM systems & other web based systems will be used daily. Experience in all of these environments would be a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi task and successfully work in a fast paced environment.

  • Some overnight travel required.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$59,900.00 - $99,100.00
