
A Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Radiologic Technologist plays an important role in diagnosing and treating heart diseases. Responsible to perform all required procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories and to operate specialized equipment including, but not limited to, the X-Ray equipment within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, computer systems, hemodynamic monitoring and have working knowledge of invasive cardiac procedures, perform in all first and second assist duties under the supervision of a physician, prepare patients and equipment for cardiac catheterization and interventions. Assist the physician in performing common catheterization interventions including, stent placements, balloon angioplasties, Intra-Aortic Balloon pump insertion, and Impella insertion. Operate intracardiac or intravascular ultrasound equipment, fluoroscopy equipment, or other imaging systems, assisting with handling venous and arterial catheters and wires. Monitor blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) equipment during procedures including coronary angiography, aortic stenosis studies, Right heart catheterizations, calculate homodynamic or physiologic values, interpret and record hemodynamic waveforms, and retrieve and analyze imaging and other data obtained during procedures.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Utilizes knowledge of A/P and cardiac procedures to document in appropriate clinical systems appropriately and carefully to include but not limited to: flushing of sheaths & maintaining sheath integrity to ensure proper homeostasis; will introduce catheters into vessel structures consistent with current CDIC standard operating procedures; will obtain hemodynamic and angiographic data by operating transducer and manifold. Assists in operation of mechanical atherectomy, thrombectomy and intravascular lithotripsy devices.
Under direct order of physician, will position, inflate, and deflate both balloons and stents inside the vessels. Will also assist with all balloons, catheters, sheaths, and wire exchanges.
Expected to be able to demonstrate and perform proper post arterial and venous access care and management (e.g. mechanic closure devices and or manual compression.) Must be able to convey pertinent patient history to the physician in a fashion that is consistent with current pre and post care policies.
Will capture all documentation required for all procedures in appropriate clinical systems according to standards. Will maintain accuracy of database and ensure all patients and procedures are recorded accurately in said database. Verifies procedure log is accurate and assists MD with procedure reports.
Equipment – expected to be knowledgeable about and can operate complex and sophisticated equipment related to Cardiac Catheterizations and Interventions. Ability to operate electronic equipment to properly monitor patients’ heart rhythm, blood pressure and hemodynamics during procedures. Will prepare and assist MD with radiographic equipment including but not limited to Impella, IABP, Angio jet, ACT machine, Hemochron, OCT, IVUS, RFR, IFR, FFR, Cath works, CSI and IVL etc. Can demonstrate ability to properly care for and troubleshoot Cardiac Cath lab equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
Maintain up to date quality control for radiation safety and participate in annual radiation safety in-services.

Strong knowledge of coronary anatomy, interventional devices, and procedural techniques strongly preffered. Ability to anticipate physician needs and respond quickly in critical situations. Excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. High level of technical competency with imaging systems, intraprocedural monitoring and arterial and venous access management strongly preferred.
Compensation Range:
$38.94- $57.86
