Job Description

Akicita Federal is hiring an X-Ray Technician to deliver uninterrupted diagnostic imaging services for the Indian Health Service's Yakama Service Unit in Toppenish, WA, supporting a patient population of approximately 10,800 registered community members. In this role, you will be the clinical backbone of the radiology department, ensuring patients receive timely, high-quality imaging that drives accurate diagnoses and continuity of care. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a meaningful mission at the heart of every shift.

  • Operate radiographic and diagnostic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic-quality images for a diverse, multicultural patient population.
  • Ensure all images are properly labeled, meet established clinical quality standards, and are completed in accordance with facility radiology protocols.
  • Document imaging procedures, patient information, and radiology results accurately and on time within the Indian Health Service Electronic Health Record (EHR/RPMS) system.
  • Support patient safety by following all radiation protection standards, infection control procedures, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, administrative tasks, equipment checks, and training during weekly administrative days (Thursdays).
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or compliance issues promptly to designated clinical leadership.
  • Maintain full compliance with HIPAA, IHS facility policies, and all applicable federal, state, and tribal clinical regulations to protect patient health information.

What sets candidates apart:

  • Prior experience performing diagnostic radiology in a federally operated clinic, tribal health program, or Indian Health Service facility.
  • Familiarity with the IHS RPMS/EHR system or other government-used electronic health record platforms.
  • Experience serving Native American or other underserved, multicultural patient populations in a clinical setting.
  • Additional ARRT certifications or advanced modality experience (e.g., fluoroscopy, bone densitometry, CT) beyond general radiography.
  • Demonstrated track record of maintaining consistent licensure, certifications, and clinical compliance across multiple contract or assignment periods.

At Akicita Federal, we specialize in supporting efforts related to National Security and Homeland Security. We provide a wide range of services and solutions that aid in protecting the country from potential threats and ensuring the safety of its citizens. Our services include intelligence gathering and analysis, border security, cybersecurity, emergency management and response, medical support, and other critical functions.

We are part of a large group of Tiospaye (extended families) within the Tetonwan (Lakota) Nation who identify as Sicangu (burnt thighs). Long ago the Sicangu divided into the Kul Wicasa Oyate (lower people) and the Heyata Wicasa Oyate (uplands people). Our Kul Wicasa ancestors favored lands where the Maka Izita Ska (White River) empties into the Mni Sose (Missouri River), while the Heyata Wicasa lived higher up towards the Paha Sapa (Black Hills). In the 18th century, when French traders began to interact with our people, they translated our Sicangu name into French and began calling us the Brûlées. This is how we eventually became known as the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe.
