Job Description

The X-Ray Technician performs x-rays for surveillance and injury care and various clinical and administrative duties in support of the intake, examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the Medical Manager, Medical Director, Physician, and Mid-Level Providers.

X-Ray Technician Responsibilities:

  • Performs complete X-Ray and Medical Assistant responsibilities independently. Partners with the Medical team ensuring patient care is of a high standard of service
  • Ensure operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
  • Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
  • Compiles with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors
  • Minimizes radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors
  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Performs patient care, administrative and environmental responsibilities as assigned
  • Conducts CAOHC certified Audiological Testing, Phlebotomy, Pulmonary Function Testing and Drug Testing
  • Secures patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
  • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Works and communicates cross departmentally
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in radiologic technology
  • State License
  • Experience operating digital X-ray machinery
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited Certified Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Emergency Medical Technician training OR 2 + years’ experience in a medical setting providing patient care
  • Phlebotomy trained or willingness to become certified
  • Drug collection and CAOHC certifications or ability to obtain

Preferred

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • CAOHC and phlebotomy certification
  • Drug testing experience
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology
  • Previous experience in occupational clinic / medical setting
