Radiology Scheduler, Imaging Services

Schedule; 730A-4P

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Imaging Technologists, Imaging Supervisors, and Imaging Director, assists in the scheduling of imaging/radiographic procedures and related clerical duties. Is ultimately responsible to the Imaging Services Supervisor.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs clerical duties in a timely professional manner related to the scheduling, examination orders, requests for films and exam results, fax management, and order management.
  • Answers telephone in a positive and professional manner.
  • Obtains appropriate financial information and consent signatures ensuring all required paperwork is obtained.
  • Reviews and updates patient demographics and payer information to ensure BMC has accurate and current information to process claims and obtain payment.
  • Starts and ensures prior authorization is received prior to scheduling patient appointments.
  • Refers all no-funded or “Voucher Programs” patients to Financial Counseling as appropriate and completes necessary paperwork.
  • Obtains consent forms for previous films as needed.
  • Arranges for procurement of previous films.
  • Obtains clinician orders from outside physicians prior to examination.
  • Makes appointment reminder calls
  • Responds timely and professionally to EMR workload and email messages.
  • Utilizes proper body mechanics in transporting, positioning, and the moving of patients and assists the technologists with moving and positioning of patients for procedures and exams.
  • Works with PAC’s computer system to Import and burn CD’s and reports for continued patient care. Schedules patients and inputs orders into the computer system to the appropriate modality/service (MRI, US, CT, Nuclear Med, General Radiography, Mammography, PET).
  • Identifies potential problems and actively searches for solutions and continually provides input to team regarding ideas and recommendations.
  • Maintains exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with department management and staff at all levels.
  • Continually demonstrates courteous and professional relations with patients, staff and others and responds to all inquiries and requests in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains a positive demeanor, good verbal and written communication skills, and is professional in both appearance and approach.
  • Completes all necessary department audits, quality monitors and clerical tasks assigned in a timely manner.
  • Participates in continuous performance improvement activities as assigned.
  • Assists in orientation of new staff.
  • Identifies age specific needs and complies with same.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year customer service related work experience.
  • Demonstrates effective communication strategies.
  • Experience with general computer applications.
