A Brief Overview
The purpose of this position is to schedule patient appointments for designated areas according to Tidelands Health protocols. Provides courteous, professional and efficient service to patients and providers. Responsible for accurately completing registration process for all patients including collection of co-payments and patient demographic information.
The Patient Scheduler III is responsible for scheduling complex, and specialized procedures (i.e., Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Recurring Services, etc.) and coordinating multiple resources for patient services. Fully competent at performing the common tasks and responsibilities under general supervision, this is the full level of proficiency that all employees are expected to achieve.

What you will do

  • Assures that patients have all information they need so that they will arrive on time and prepared for their procedures and that the hospital has all the information required to bill properly for its services
  • Receives requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and patients and schedules the procedure according to the availability of the various departments
  • Provides accurate information so that all departments may view and print the schedule for the appointments daily and maintains open communication with hospital departments regarding schedule changes
  • Performs various administrative support duties for department/work location. Opens, sorts and distributes all types of mail and correspondence as is necessary and assigned


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Associate's Degree or Medical Terminology course completion Preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of related customer facing healthcare experience Required
  • At least one (1) year scheduling or preregistering patients Required
  • (2) years of experience demonstrating proficiency in scheduling OR preregistering patients within basic services Preferred

  • Ability to interact successfully with the public. Ability to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities; maintaining personal composure in high stress situations
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff
  • Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and with meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrate a strong ability to use initiative and judgment and to identify, analyze and solve problems
