Optimizes patient experience and supports providers by anticipating and responding to patient needs and requests of the health care team. Assists technologists/physicians with related modality exam/procedures. Supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services. May be required to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Allows care providers to focus on patient care by coordinating the patient flow which includes but not limited to: scheduling of inpatient exams/procedures, coordinating with the floor nurse for availability of patient, arranging transportation and/or transporting patients to and from the modality, updating of patient information in the electronic record, preparing and assisting patients while in the scan room, assists with positioning patient on table prior to and after exams, communicating scheduling delays or changes to the appropriate individuals, communicates with ordering providers on behalf of Radiologists, and ensure that modality rooms are properly stocked with supplies.
Must be a current Radiography Program student to be considered for this position.
High school diploma or GED and two years related experience; or an Associate Degree in a healthcare or service-related field. Related experience includes an environment requiring multi-tasking, within an administrative/physician's office or retail/service industry. Previous medical experience preferred in a hospital or clinic outpatient setting, including knowledge of procedures. Successful completion of Clinic Operations approved medical terminology course within 6 months of position start date is required. Completion of Basic Life Support training, MRI Safety training and Safe Patient Handling education are also required based on assignment. Qualified candidates must be customer-focused, service-oriented, possess strong verbal/written communication skills, and can trouble shoot, problem solve, and balance conflicting demands. Role requires independent decision making and sound judgment capabilities, with strong attention to detail and follow through. A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, manage difficult and emotional situations, remains calm under stress, displays empathy and maintain positive communication is also required. Must have strong keyboarding and computer skills. Demonstrates basic understanding of insurance terminology.
None required. Certification as Medical Assistant (MA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
