Job Description

Primary Function

Responsible for planning and performing diagnostic patient examinations using technical skills utilizing radiation-emitting equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs.

Responsibilities

  • Review requisitions to determine proper room set up and amounts of radiation. Study views required for examination relative to patient’s anatomy and perform examinations.
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents (e.g. Barium) as required.
  • Provide nursing care to patient during and following examinations. This includes evaluating patient and calling codes if patient gets in dire distress.
  • Provide radiation protection for self, patient and staff by using various protective devices and by selecting radiation factors which will result in a quality study with minimal radiation exposure to the patient.
  • Evaluate diagnostic films to ensure quality studies, having unsuitable films repeated as necessary.
  • Perform other various functions including assisting radiologist during procedures.
  • Train employees and students in day to day procedures.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Specifications

  • An Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology and minimum six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. CPR Certification Required. ARRT is also required.
