Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist B � CVL (Cardiovascular Lab), practices in a large tertiary academic Children's Hospital with level one trauma designation. Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse or qualified CVL Radiologic Technologist, performs simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures in for patients with cardiac dysfunction. Operates the physiologic and radiographic equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Ensures all patient care equipment is calibrated and that operational capabilities are tested consistent with departmental guidelines and regulations. Anticipates potential safety concerns in the environment of care and intervenes appropriately. Participates in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects and other health-related projects as assigned. Provides direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources; appraises quality and effectiveness of material and equipment and communicates issues to responsible individuals. Provides accurate clinical and billing documentation. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Successful completion of accredited Radiological Technology program. Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred. Previous cardiac or vascular catheterization or electrophysiology experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to: relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to: communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Radiologic Technologist license with fluoroscopy permit required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association required.
