Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Location: Harrison, New York
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Range: $40.04–$49.92 per hour
Hours Per Pay Period: 80
A healthcare organization in Harrison, New York, is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to join its outpatient imaging team.
The Radiologic Technologist will perform routine and selected special-procedure radiographic examinations while maintaining high standards for image quality, radiation safety, patient care, and documentation. This role requires strong technical judgment, excellent patient communication, and the ability to adapt to changing clinical and operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine diagnostic radiographic examinations and selected special procedures
- Prepare and position patients correctly according to examination protocols
- Verify imaging orders and ensure required documentation is complete
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images and review completed studies for technical quality and completeness
- Apply appropriate radiation-safety principles to minimize unnecessary exposure
- Assist physicians and radiologists during procedures when needed
- Educate patients and family members regarding ordered examinations
- Provide age-appropriate care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Perform equipment quality assurance testing and calibrations
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of imaging rooms, equipment, and accessories
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly
- Process images and prepare patient CDs when needed
- Review prior reports and imaging when appropriate
- Document patient and examination information in the applicable RIS/PACS and electronic systems
- Coordinate patient transport when necessary
- Communicate urgent or preliminary imaging information to appropriate providers when directed
- Provide clinical instruction to radiography students
- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education
- Maintain required continuing-education standards and professional credentials
- Assist with emergency or additional departmental coverage when needed
- Perform other related radiology duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certificate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program or hospital-based radiography program
- ARRT registration in Radiography – RT(R) upon hire
- New York State Department of Health Radiologic Technologist license upon hire, or qualifying Limited Permit
- American Heart Association BLS certification within 90 days of hire
- New York State DOH IV certification within 180 days of hire
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic radiography and radiation safety
- Strong patient-positioning and image-quality skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to assess and respond to changing patient and department needs
- Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills
- Ability to maintain required continuing-education credits
Preferred
- Previous outpatient or hospital-based Radiologic Technologist experience
- Experience with special-procedure imaging
- Experience using RIS and PACS systems
- Previous experience providing clinical instruction to students
- Experience caring for patients across a broad range of ages
Additional Requirements
During orientation, the Radiologic Technologist will complete the Image Gently and Image Wisely radiation-dose pledges through the American College of Radiology as part of the organization's radiation-safety program.
