As a Senior Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer at eero, you will work with the rest of the Hardware Engineering team to design, implement, debug, and characterize embedded systems for wireless networking applications. This role will focus on development, validation, troubleshooting, and factory build support for the RF hardware sub-systems that enable eero products to support wireless technologies such as wifi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Thread. These wireless interfaces are critical features of all eero products, so customer experience is highly sensitive to the performance and reliability of the underlying RF sub-systems.

Key job responsibilities
- Perform link budget analysis, select appropriate RF ICs and passive components, review and optimize PCB schematics and layouts
- Use specialized test equipment to validate RF performance from the sub-component to the system level
- Validate RF performance and troubleshoot RF issues from the sub-component to the system level
- Collaborate with verification and validation engineers to create test plans that thoroughly validate designs and efficiently address system integration challenges
- Work cross-functionally with other engineers to meet challenging form factor and industrial design requirements while preventing unintentional radiators from negatively impacting RF receiver sensitivity
- Collaborate with manufacturing test and operations teams to review RF test fixture design and setup so that device RF performance can be tested efficiently to the correct specifications at the factory

Basic Qualifications


- 7+ years of analog or RF layout design experience
- Experience in embedded wireless systems, or experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware
- 8+ years of experience in board-level design, component selection, and prototyping for high-volume, cost-optimized consumer electronics
- Deep understanding of the system integration risks and challenges posed by wireless technologies such as wifi, Bluetooth, and IEEE 802.15.4

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with major router platforms
- Experience in consumer products and have completed at least two product life cycles
- Experience with RF measurement equipment, including: power meters, spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators, network analyzers, oscilloscopes
- Knowledge of converting sub-system functional requirements into engineering requirements and component designs
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 tri-band router/access point applications
- Experience with wifi throughput test set up and validation
- Knowledge of design and testing requirements for compliance with FCC and ETSI regulatory standards for radio transmitters
