The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy to Patients under direction of Chief Radiation Therapist and Radiation Oncology medical staff.

Typical Duties:

  1. Performs tumor localization procedures creating shells and molds, etc

  2. Performs daily linear accelerator warm-up procedures.

  3. Checks photon beam and all electron beams for consistency. Checks physics components for accuracy of beam alignment.

  4. Delivers accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy. Observes Patients for unusual reactions and events

  5. Prepares Radiation Oncology treatment blocks and molds to for patient treatment.

  6. Transfers patients from wheelchairs and gurneys to linac/CT simulator couches

  7. Participates in the PI process.

  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


    Required Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited radiation therapy program.
  • Will consider graduate therapist dependent on residency experience.

  • Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 2 plus years of experience as a Staff Radiation Therapist in Radiation Oncology Department or Center.

  • Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) registry.
