Job Objective:
Follows the prescription plan and delivers radiation therapy to patients as ordered by the physician. Collaborates with front office staff, radiation oncology nurse, physicists and dosimetrist to ensure every patient is given accurate, precise, and high quality treatment in an emotionally healing environment. Provides support, as appropriate, in all aspects of the treatment of the patient ensuring a smooth transition from each phase of the treatment process. Education:
Required: Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapist Program
Licensure/Certification:
Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Radiation Therapy (T) certification; California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) Therapeutic license; American Heart Association BLS

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Ability and willingness to contribute to improving the quality of care for our patients, including sharing ideas with staff, supervisors and physicians, Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, Ability to work collaboratively and under the clinical guidance of the Radiation Oncologists, Excellent communication skills and ability to create and maintain a healing experience through sensitivity to patient needs, Knowledge of therapy equipment (linear accelerators/information systems), preferably Varian, HDR, CT, simulators and computer literate
Essential Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Delivers accurate radiation therapy treatments with high technical quality using proper set-up and calculation parameters.
3. Processes and films orthogonal/port films prescribed by physician; obtains port films in accordance with the department portal vision protocols.
4. Maintains and updates scheduling for new patients and current treatment times, simulations, conedowns, offcord treatments, etc.; notifies appropriate team members related to changes or questions.
5. Simulates patients and designs custom blockings; selection and correct placement of immobilization devices, customized blocks and optimizes patient comfort in a manner than can be reproduced each time.
6. Utilizes computer to perform calculations and assure accuracy.
7. Maintains appropriate charges for radiation therapy.
8. Maintains a clean and neat work area (i.e., stocks supplies and linen in rooms when needed, disinfects used equipment frequently, utilizes all down time as needs arise); offers assistance to lead, team members and Director when available.
9. Conducts daily quality assurance of treatment machines, simulator, and CT Scanner to obtain expected values and reports any deviation to physicist immediately.
10. Makes team effort to chart, check, file, stock rooms, check for supplies and is sensitive to and willing to flex “out” when needed.
11. Identifies and shares with leadership/team members opportunities for improving patient and guest satisfaction.
12. Attends weekly chart rounds and actively participates when appropriate.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
