
Ensures quality of care and adequate protection of patients and staff in the use of imaging equipment and other radiation-producing sources. Assists in maintaining proper calibration of equipment.
Job Responsibility
1.Ensures careful and quality use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment.
2.Protects patients and staff from radiation.
3.Calibrates all radiation therapy equipment.
4.Participates in the research and development of new therapy modalities.
5.Responsible for the implementation of the Quality Assurance program and ensures compliance with regulations of all governing agencies.
6.Conducts equipment performance reviews as needed Implements quality control procedures for imaging devices.
7.Recommends radiation safety procedures to areas using radiation.

Job Qualification
Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Current license and certification to practice as a Medical Physicist in NYS, required. License and certification must be in speciality area appropriate to area of assignment.
Plus specialized certifications as needed.
1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
