
Staff Position Description
Position Title: Radiation Oncology Therapist Position Code: RadOncTher-6181
Department: Cancer Center Safety Sensitive: YES
Reports to: Chief Radiation Therapist Exempt Status: NO
Shift: Per Diem will work a minimum of six (6) shifts in six (6) weeks and up to a maximum of 19 hours per week
Position Purpose:

Key Responsibilities [List of material responsibilities and essentials duties which must be completed in achieving the objectives of the position]
Responsible for maintaining up to date competencies and high quality standard of care for:
1. Treatment delivery and IMRT process flow
2. Verification simulation process flow
3. Setup simulation process flow
4. Clinical treatment process flow
5. Treatment delivery and imaging flow for SRS and SBRT
6. Dosimetry planning flow
7. Ensures all departmental policies are met
8. Demonstrates submission of accurate billing/treatment information to ensure compliance with related billing charges
9. Demonstrates radiation safety knowledge and compliance with state regulations
10. Maintains and ensures ACR practice parameters for radiation therapy
11. Fulfills the role and responsibilities of a licensed radiation therapist
Qualifications [Statements regarding minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, military service, required certifications, etc.]
Education: Graduate of Radiologic Technologist program. Preferably from an educational institution approved by the ARRT, JCERT, or the ACR.
Certification/Licensure:
1. Current Arizona Medical Radiologic Technologist certificate/licensure.
2. Certification by American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) registry in Radiation Therapy
3. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
Preferences [Preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e., multi-lingual, master’s degree)]
Education: Associate’s degree or Bachelors’ with certification preferred

1. Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity hand-eye coordination
2. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
3. Requires standing/sitting for extensive periods of time
4. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds
5. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal
