Job Profile Summary:
The Radiation Oncology Nurse functions an a collaborative role with the Radiation Oncology Team and other healthcare providers in providing continuity and outcome-directed quality patient care. Interdependently assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care provided throughout the treatment course and follow-up period. Job involves direct patient care and encompasses patient/family teaching, symptom management, counseling, and supportive role to assist patient and family in coping with and adjusting to diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Schedule: Full-time, Days.

Requirements
•Current Missouri Registered Nurse license.
•AHA BLS For Healthcare Providers Within 30 Days.
•AHA PALS Provider Within 365 Days.
•RN Competency Day Annually By Transcript Due Date.


Preferred Requirements
•Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) Within 180 Days

Responsibilities:
•Provides general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and as ordered by the attending physician.
•Observes, documents, and reports patient status during all radiation procedures, including response to medications or adverse reactions to contrast media, drugs, or radiation.
•Educates patient and family members regarding potential radiation side effects/care, diagnostic procedures, medications, And health/wellness.
•Ensures accuracy and completeness of documentation concerning nursing duties performed during patient procedure.
•Coordinates care of inpatients with other members of the healthcare team.
•Notifies Director and/or Radiation Oncologist of problems or potential problems associated with patient care.
•Functions as an information and education resource for the community and staff while maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice.
•Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as health system initiatives.
