Under the direction of the General Manager, this position is responsible for the overall management of the racing operations while establishing a safe and welcoming environment for all guests and team members. Incumbent is responsible for monitoring the duties and responsibilities of managers and supervisors who are direct reports, for assisting with the planning and directing of the racing office operations and backside operations. Incumbent ensures adherence to all policies and procedures; motivates and leads by example and provides a positive work environment. Develops performance objectives and delivers performance evaluations for direct reports, implements all new racing operations’ initiatives as directed; actively participates in the recruitment and hiring process.

Ability to obtain and maintain a gaming and/or racing license(s) within assigned state of employment
Must successfully pass background check
Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
Must be willing to work a variety of shifts to include swing shifts and holidays if needed

Every team member will be familiarized with the business process documentation and internal control objectives related to their position, and how their job description aligns with specific internal control activities for which they are responsible.
Knowledge of:
Operations, services and activities of a racing program operations; racing rules and regulation and processing of required documents and forms; development of schedules and assigning handicaps; principles of supervision and training; principles and procedures of proper record keeping; principles of writing and basic report preparation; office procedures; methods and equipment including computers and applicable software applications; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Coordinate, review and comprehend all necessary documentation as required by racing commissions; compose, type and route correspondence; understand various racing terms and protocols; independently initiates, follows up on and completes assignments; recognizes areas needing improvement and makes recommendation; maintain confidentiality and use good judgment and tact; train and evaluate team members; participate in the development and administration of goals, objectives, and procedures; prepare clear and concise reports; interpret and explain policies and procedures; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; interpret and explain policies and procedures; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations
