Provide support for the Rabies Program Manager and Regional Rabies Prevention Team within the Communicable Disease and Epidemiology Section of Public Health. Provide guidance to statewide affiliated services and local rabies prevention teams to ensure compliance with the Rabies Control Act. Performs duties for statewide operations.
- Coordinates daily reporting and data management activities of the Rabies Control Program to ensure accurate tracking and appropriate responses, and that necessary communication occurs between regional staff, central office, and other partners.

- Serves as a statewide assistant technical advisor. Provides guidance and technical assistance to statewide affiliated services and local rabies prevention teams to ensure compliance with the Rabies Control Act. Serves as back up to the Rabies Program Manager and assists with staff training.

- Conducts audits of the rabies program including investigation reports in SCION or agency approved software, and provides a written report of results. Evaluates staff activities to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, current regulations, and policy.

- Assists with tracking and fulfilling Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned, including required travel if requested, and responds as directed during.

Examples of duties

State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.

Agency Additional Requirements: An associate degree in a relevant field and two (2) years experience; or high school diploma and four (4) years of experience in a relevant field.

Qualifications

Passionate about community health and safety. Four (4) years of experience in customer service, environmental health, or a related role. Experience as a veterinarian assistant or technician, zookeeper, wildlife technician, kennel technician, or a related role is strongly preferred. Bilingual, Spanish speaking.
