The Quantum Technology and Platform Architect is a senior technical leader who aligns SkyWater’s S90LN, ATS, and developing Superconducting platforms with system-level requirements. Blending deep engineering expertise with business strategy, this role defines the capabilities we need and why to drive revenue growth and smart investment decisions. The architect ensures our current offerings, as well as our technology roadmap, directly supports market opportunity that aligns with SkyWater SAM and leads business efforts to capture our full SOM.
Major Areas of Accountability:
1. System & Market Architecture
◦ Develop system-level understanding of target applications and integration models.
◦ Identify architectural bottlenecks and unmet technical needs at the system level.
◦ Define where SkyWater can create differentiated value.
2. Platform Requirement Definition
◦ Translate system needs into platform capability requirements.
◦ Define performance envelopes and technical guardrails.
◦ Prioritize capability investments by market impact.
3. Strategic Market Focus
◦ Identifies and recommend market sub-segments to pursue or deprioritize – maximize our SAM/SOM.
◦ Lead business development with executive-level technical engagement.
◦ Contribute to long-range platform investment strategy and revenue analysis.
4. Technical Market Positioning & Collateral
◦ Develop technical white papers, architecture briefs, and conference materials.
◦ Provide technical content for market collateral and external communications.
◦ Support Platform Management and Sales with system-level value articulation.
Required Qualifications:.
• Education: BS required. Engineering, physics, material science.
• Experience: 8-12 years progressive experience in system engineering, process or integration or development engineering.
• Demonstrated Impact on production / platform revienue.
• Deep domain expertise in assigned platform or market..
• Understands cost drivers and margin impacts of new or modified features. Able to quickly turn into ROI decisions and priorities and also drive value based decisions.
• Able to lead customer and industry discussions uncovering system level requirements, document results, and turn into product requirements to support technology development .
• Travel Requirements: 25%.
• US Citizenship Required: This position will require the holding of, or ability to obtain, a US government security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
• Education. MS preferred. Engineering, physics, material science.
• Experience: 5+ years in system architecture or product design in assigned area.
• Participation in industry groups.
• Platform Launch Experience.
• Contributed to platform revenue targets in support of P&L ownership.
• Regulated/Defense Experience preferred.
The annual salary range for this role is $158,960 - $238,440. Pay offered is based on many factors including, but not limited to, the job-related experience, skills, education, and credentials of each candidate.
