You're an experienced Quantity Surveyor who enjoys taking ownership of the commercial performance of projects, working closely with operational teams and finding solutions that deliver value. You're looking for a role where you can influence project outcomes, build strong client relationships and see the direct impact of your commercial expertise.

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Landscape Design & Engineering (LDE) division at Ground Control. You'll play a key role in the successful delivery of large-scale landscape construction projects, supporting project teams to achieve financial targets, manage risk and maximise commercial performance.

This is more than managing costs and producing reports. You'll be a trusted commercial partner, helping project teams navigate complex contracts, identify opportunities, manage change and protect profitability throughout the project lifecycle.

Manage complex contracts and change

You'll play a key role in managing variations, contractual obligations and entitlement matters, ensuring Ground Control's commercial interests are protected while maintaining positive client relationships.

You'll work closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, developing trusted relationships that help projects run smoothly and deliver successful outcomes.

What you'll do

You'll oversee the commercial and financial management of projects, ensuring robust cost control, accurate reporting and strong contractual administration throughout delivery.

• Manage project budgets and monitor financial performance to achieve target profit margins.
• Produce accurate cost reports, forecasts and financial updates for project stakeholders.
• Complete monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), identifying risks, opportunities and financial variances.
• Prepare and submit monthly valuations, ensuring completed works are accurately captured and recovered.
• Manage project variations, additional instructions and change control processes.
• Work closely with client Quantity Surveyors to agree valuations, variations and contractual matters.
• Conduct site measurements and review project quantities against drawings and bills of quantities.
• Procure subcontract packages, obtain quotations and negotiate commercial terms.
• Support procurement planning, material quotations and project purchasing schedules.
• Review subcontractor applications, prepare payment certificates and manage subcontractor accounts.
• Monitor labour costs through timesheet and invoice reviews.
• Maintain accurate commercial records, document control and contractual documentation.
• Support Project Managers and Commercial Managers with delay analysis, entitlement matters and contractual notices.
• Attend contract review meetings and provide insight into project financial performance.
• Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks to protect project profitability and cash flow.
• Ensure contractual compliance and effective commercial administration across projects.

What we're looking for

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or holding an equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant Quantity Surveying experience within construction, infrastructure, civil engineering or landscape construction environments.
• Strong experience managing project finances, cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting.
• Excellent understanding of contract management, procurement, change control and commercial administration.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to build productive relationships with project teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Commercially astute with a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
• Highly organised, resilient and able to perform effectively under pressure.

Desirable

• Chartered status or membership with RICS.
• Experience working on large-scale landscape construction projects.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior commercial team members.
• Strong understanding of procurement scheduling and subcontract management.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project delivery environments.
