The Consultant Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for progressively developing, refining, and validating project costs from initial concept up to detailed design, ensuring that the project remains financially viable, properly budgeted, and ready for bidding.
Conceptual Stage
Delivers high-level estimates using benchmarks/parametric, identifies cost drivers, and advises on efficient designs/feasibility.
Feasibility Stage
Refines into structured cost plans with approximate take-offs, supports financial analysis, aligns scope/budget, and recommends value engineering.
DED Stage
Prepares detailed take-offs, itemized estimates, BOQ, and final cost baseline (Engineer’s Estimate/ABC); ensures accurate tender documents
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction management, or related course. Licensed Civil Engineer (advantage).
2+ years' experience (infrastructure/building preferred).
Expertise in cost estimation, contracts, construction processes.
Proficient in Excel, AutoCAD; knowledge of PlanSwift, Cubicost, Cost X, Primavera, MS Project advantageous.
Skilled in interpreting drawings/specs; strong analytical, communication, negotiation abilities.
Positive, collaborative team attitude.
Experience in Bill of Quantities, Detailed Unit Price Analysis (DUPA), Cost Reporting, Technical Specification for large-scale infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities, buildings)
Familiarity with government projects and contract procedures
Knowledge of FIDIC or similar contract conditions.
Strong numerical/analytical skills with attention to detail.
Organized, deadline-driven, adaptable to priority changes.
Works independently or in teams (head/site office).
Excellent reporting/documentation.
