We are looking for a Quantitative Power Market Analyst to support algorithmic and discretionary
trading activities in the Hungarian short-term electricity market, including intraday continuous
(XBID) and day-ahead markets.
The role focuses on developing analytical tools, market signals and quantitative models that
support trading decisions and improve algorithmic strategy performance
Working as part of the trading desk, the position sits at the intersection of energy markets, data
analytics and quantitative modeling, with a strong focus on supporting traders through practical,
market-oriented analytics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Analytics and Signal Development
Develop and maintain quantitative signals supporting short-term power trading decisions.
Analyze drivers of price formation, volatility and intraday market behavior.
Support identification of trading opportunities through data-driven analysis.
Forecasting and Modeling
Develop short-term models related to:
o demand deviations
o renewable generation forecasts
o imbalance drivers
o balancing price behavior
o short-term price forecasting
Support improvement of market inputs used by algorithmic strategies.
Market Microstructure and Trading Analytics
Analyze order book dynamics, liquidity patterns and intraday price behavior to support
trading decisions and algorithmic strategy improvements.
Monitor execution performance, slippage and trading outcomes to identify optimization
opportunities.
Support development of market signals derived from order book behavior and short-term
market dynamics.
Algorithmic Strategy Support
Work closely with traders to support the development and refinement of algorithmic
strategies.
Perform backtesting and performance analysis of trading strategies.
Monitor and analyze strategy performance and support continuous improvement of
algorithmic trading logic.
Data and Trading Analytics
Build dashboards, tools, and analytics for the trading desk.
Process and analyze market, operational, and trading data.
Support continuous improvement of data infrastructure and analytical workflows.
REQUIREMENTS
University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Physics, Computer
Science or related field.
2+ years of experience in energy analytics, quantitative analysis or short-term power
markets.
Strong Python skills required.
Experience with SQL and data handling.
Strong analytical and statistical mindset.
Knowledge of electricity markets and balancing mechanisms is a strong advantage.
Professional English (written and spoken).

Time-series modeling and forecasting techniques
Backtesting methodologies
Python libraries
Understanding of power market microstructure and order book behavior
Experience with execution analytics or trading performance analysis
Knowledge of machine learning is a plus
