The Team
This role is part of the Systematic Investing team within Invesco Fixed Income. The team is responsible for managing over $40 billion in assets under management across an array of fixed income products including credit, interest rates and foreign currencies. The team manages exchange traded funds (ETF’s), mutual funds and separately managed accounts with operations and clients spanning the US, Europe and Asia.
The Role
In this role, you will collaborate closely with portfolio managers and quantitative analysts to build software that powers quantitative investment processes supporting the systematic fixed income platform. The primary focus will be software engineering and development—designing and implementing tools and models that directly support portfolio management and investment decision-making. The work will play a critical role in automating portfolio management tasks and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our investment strategies. You will gain broad exposure to the investment lifecycle, including research, portfolio construction, trading, and attribution. The impact of your contributions will be tangible, influencing investment decisions and fund performance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Developing software to synthesize quantitative models with fundamental analysis to implement investment strategies with superior risk adjusted returns
• Provides support to senior portfolio managers to help drive the development of our research IP related to fixed income investing
• Performs maintenance and improve existing infrastructure for all our production process
• Researches cyclical and structural drivers of global economic performance using statistical and fundamental analysis.
• Communicates the results of economic and market models across the platform.
• Examines and communicates analysis of quantitative models developed by third parties to assess potential value and usage in the team’s overall quantitative approach.
• Interacts with other Invesco quantitative groups for insights and potential synergies across groups.
• Serve as quantitative resource to broader IFI platform for quantitative analysis needs.
Work Experience / Knowledge:
• 1-5 years’ experience developing software supporting investment processes is required. A focus on fixed income investments is a plus but not required.
• 1-5 years quantitative research experience is required. A focus on fixed income investments is a plus but not required.
• Experience in automating investment workflows, including data processing, portfolio construction, and performance analysis
• Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD, and Unix/Linux environments
• Knowledge of the principles of investment analysis, statistics as would be acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Finance or related field is required.
• Strong grasp of data engineering fundamentals and working with financial datasets
Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:
• Strong software engineering skills building scalable, production quality systems for investment teams
• Proficiency in R or Python and SQL for data science and application development
• Familiarity with AI coding tools (e.g. AI agents, MCP, context aware tooling)
• Ability to assimilate processes from three key roles in Investment Management: portfolio management, analyst and trader
• Strong ability to communicate with internal and external parties.
• Ability to gather and interpret market data from various sources such as third party and in-house databases.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on details in a fast-paced work environment.
• The ability to collaborate in a team environment is critical.
Formal Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative finance or equivalent required.
• A Master’s degree or a CFA designation is a plus but not required.
