SUMMARY: The Quality Technician works on their assigned shift to ensure that product quality is maintained and that job specifications are being followed correctly. The Quality Technician contributes to achieving plant and divisional goals and objectives by supporting BRCGS Food Packaging Safety standards by following procedures, work instructions and ensuring accurate documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Inspection of Surface/ Reverse Printed  rolls including:
- - Verifies that the correct plates are being used by matching the plate number to the spec.
- - Checks to ensure the correct repeat, slit width and wind is being run compared to the spec.
- - Utilizes the spectrodensitometer color measurement software to ensure all spot colors are under the standard DE value of 2.0.
- - Ensures that the product visually matches the visual standard color and appearance wise.
- - Verifies that the correct inks are being used in the press in accordance with the spec.
- - Measures the Dyne and width of the raw material, as well as verifying the film matches the technical spec.
- - Ensures good roll profile on each finished good/ raw material.
- - Checks the Opacity of the white ink/white film and compare it to the technical spec.
- - Scans the UPC to verify the code is reading fully and correctly.
- - Checks for print defects and out of register print, while thoroughly documenting all issues.
- - Verifies that the current print matches the print copy 100%.
- - Measures OPV Coat weight, as well as performing scratch, tape, and UV tests on all CRP items.
- - Performs routine Primer Powder and Rub/Stretch tests on every Tray Pack roll tested to ensure Primer registration and coverage.
- - Measures the Dot Gain and Density of all Process images, including Extended Gamut.
- Inspection of Converted Product:
- - Confirm product matches label & specifications.
- - Laminated Material: Dyne Test, Film Verification, Adhesive Coat Weight & Ratio, proper glue line verification, visual inspections, dimensional inspections, adhesive bond strength testing.
- - Slit Material: Visual inspections, dimensional inspections, confirm print position, confirm packaging requirements, roll hardness testing.
- - Finished Pouches: Visual Inspections, dimensional inspections, measure lip size, confirm zipper location/close ability, burst testing, drop testing, vacuum testing, seal strength testing, verify applicable punches/holes confirm packaging requirements.
- - Finished Bags: Visual Inspections, dimensional inspections, measure lip size, confirm zipper location/close ability, seal strength testing, verify applicable vent holes & top/side slits, confirm packaging requirements.
- - Inno-Lok - Visual Inspections, dimensional inspections, confirm zipper placement/alignment with perf location, inspect zipper crush point, confirm packaging requirements.
- Conduct rounds throughout work centers in a timely manner.
- Accurate completion of paperwork documenting all tests.
- Proper filing of test paperwork and job samples for completed jobs.
- Inspect retain samples at end of jobs and properly file in retain room. Maintains a log of where retains are located for easy locating when required.
- Operation of test equipment as required.
- Knowledge of all food safety rules and champion of them on the shift.
- Knowledge of all quality requirements.
- Sends daily report of quality issues on their shift.
- Initiates QA Holds for material in question and forwards to QA Manager.

QualificationsSPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:  Working knowledge of computer software to include but not limited to Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
