JOB TITLE: Quality Specialist – Metals, Minerals, & Solid Fuels
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager, Dry Bulk Survey
Manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control of the Marrero, LA Solid Fuels and Metal and Minerals laboratories to include local quality system, workflow, analyses, and meeting of deadlines while ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the aforementioned, but not exclusively. Other duties may be assigned as required. All duties are to be carried out in accordance with company policies, including Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality Management System, industry accreditation and applicable laws. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree (Science) is preferred and/or minimum 5 years laboratory experience, of which a minimum of 3 years held in a supervisory capacity.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret technical language. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general public.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic algebra and statistical analysis. Must possess at least a basic understanding of general chemistry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to learn computer software programs. Must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
