Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manufacturing Supervisor to support rollingstock manufacturing operations across the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP).

This newly created leadership role fills an important gap within the Quality team structure and provides dedicated quality oversight for the fit-out manufacturing stream. You'll be responsible for ensuring production teams follow approved technical instructions, required inspections and checks are completed, and quality records and evidence are accurate, complete and compliant.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, suppliers, customers and our joint venture delivery partner, you'll provide day-to-day leadership across quality control activities while building a proactive quality culture that supports safe, efficient and compliant manufacturing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee quality inspection, surveillance and quality control activities, ensuring production work is completed in accordance with approved technical instructions, specifications and quality requirements.
• Verify electrical and mechanical installation activities meet defined standards and ensure inspection evidence and quality records are accurate and complete.
• Identify, manage and resolve quality risks, defects, non-conformances and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Lead and develop a team of two Quality Manufacturing Inspectors, providing coaching, guidance and day-to-day support across fit-out manufacturing activities.
• Build strong relationships with Operations, Engineering, project stakeholders, suppliers, customers and delivery partners to drive quality outcomes across the program.

You will bring:

• A trade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical/Fitting, Coating Inspection or a related discipline.
• Experience leading quality activities, people, processes or projects within manufacturing, rail, engineering, heavy industry or another highly regulated environment.
• Strong capability interpreting technical standards, specifications, work instructions and quality requirements and applying practical judgement on the shop floor.
• Demonstrated experience managing inspections, quality records, non-conformances, quality risks and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Quality, Operations, Engineering and partner organisations.

An electrical trade background is highly desirable due to the fit-out scope of the role.

Rollingstock manufacturing experience will be highly regarded; however, we also welcome candidates from highly regulated industries such as defence, aviation, transport, energy or complex manufacturing environments where compliance with standards, legislation and documented processes is critical.
