Anglian Water’s @one Alliance | Delivering a Sustainable Future for the East of England

Location: Hybrid with regular travel to sites across the Anglian Water region

Shape the Quality of Critical Infrastructure

Water is at the heart of everything we do.

The East of England is one of the UK's most environmentally significant regions, home to unique rivers, wetlands and coastlines. It is also one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, facing increasing pressure from climate change, population growth and water scarcity.

Join the @one Alliance – a collaborative partnership of eight industry‑leading companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. As we prepare for the challenges and opportunities of AMP8, we’re looking for talented individuals to help us shape the future of water infrastructure.

To help us achieve this vision, we're looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join the @one Alliance

What You'll Be Doing

As Quality Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of assets delivered across our capital programme. Working closely with project teams, suppliers and delivery partners, you'll champion a right-first-time culture, assuring that quality standards are consistently achieved from project inception through to final handover.

You'll be a visible leader across our projects, providing expert guidance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping to eliminate recurring defects through collaborative problem solving and data-led decision making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality assurance activities across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.

  • Carry out inspections and witness testing of products and assets both on-site and within the supply chain.

  • Support delivery teams in implementing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality processes.

  • Identify, investigate and help resolve quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are effectively managed and closed out.

  • Analyse quality performance trends and provide meaningful reporting to support continuous improvement.

  • Work alongside commissioning teams to assure asset quality at handover.

  • Collaborate with supply chain partners to improve standards and reduce repeat defects.

  • Drive lessons learned, root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.

  • Promote quality best practice through participation in the @one Alliance Quality Community.

  • Act as a trusted advisor, building strong relationships across project teams and stakeholder groups.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong communication and influencing skills.

Essential

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.

  • Significant experience within Quality Management, Quality Assurance or Construction Quality Control.

  • Experience working within the construction, engineering or infrastructure sectors.

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

  • Auditing experience.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.

  • Ability to confidently challenge and influence at all levels.

  • Strong IT skills, including databases and Microsoft Excel.

  • CSCS Card.

  • A proactive, visible and collaborative approach to leadership.

Desirable

  • Experience within the water or wider utilities sector.

  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification.

  • CQI Chartered Member status, or working towards Chartered membership.

  • Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Project management qualifications such as Prince2 or PMP.

  • Experience within complex, multi-disciplinary project environments.

Why join us?

In the @one Alliance, you’ll be part of something bigger — a partnership built on collaboration, innovation and purpose. You’ll have the autonomy to lead meaningful projects, influence strategy, and help shape a sustainable legacy for future generations.
