Position Title: Quality Manager

Reports To: Factory Manager

Role Type: Individual Contributor

Location: Mysuru

Purpose of the role

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining SKF quality management system to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. This role involves leading a team of quality professionals, conducting audits, analyse data, and implementing continuous improvement to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance policies and procedures, statuary & legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, ISO standards, and customer specifications. ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality.
  • Drive quality standards in line with SKF Production System.
  • Lead and manage the quality assurance team, providing training and guidance.
  • Oversee inspection and testing processes for raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods, specifically in rubber process
  • Drive problem solving culture, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Coordinate / manage internal and external audits, addressing non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production processes and reduce defects.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality requirements.
  • Maintain and update quality documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of quality control equipment
  • Support and implement SKF supplier Quality standards in all suppliers
  • Customer complaint handling and implementation of corrective and preventive action as per the SKF QMS.
  • Periodic interaction with SKF global team & Customer to improve the quality system.
  • Drive Process and product audit as per the system.
  • Plan and conduct periodic Quality competence enhance program for organisation members.
  • Ensure the SKF change management is followed in all the process changes.
  • Support new product introduction in factory as per the customer quality standards

Requirements

  • Business Acumen and Quality standards & tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Domain knowledge: In-depth knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvement.
  • Proficiency in quality control tools, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve quality objectives.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and customer audits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
  • Training Skills

Education:

  • Master’s / bachelor’s degree in engineering in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Quality management or Rubber technologist.

Experience:

  • Work experience of 15 years in Quality / Production
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of (SPC) and (FMEA), HFA, Problem solving
