Overview

An opportunity has arisen within a leading organisation in the UK nuclear/energy sector for a Quality Management Lead. This role offers the chance to be part of one of the UK's most significant megaprojects, helping deliver a new nuclear power station that will supply reliable electricity to millions of homes and support the country's net zero ambitions. The role is based in Suffolk, London, or Bristol, with flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

Support the development and deployment of quality assurance and quality control arrangements across the project.

Review, accept, and monitor contractors' Quality Assurance Plans and conduct supply chain audits.

Develop and oversee Project Quality Control Plans and associated inspection strategies.

Lead the implementation of comprehensive quality management processes and surveillance activities.

Coordinate inspections, surveillance, and auditing of manufacturing and construction activities.

Support resolution of quality issues, non-conformances, and the management of corrective actions.

Ensure manufacturing and construction activities conform to technical specifications and contractual requirements.

Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, including with inspection bodies and supply chain partners.

Monitor quality performance through data analysis, reporting, and regular audits.

Requirements / Experience

Proven experience in project delivery within the nuclear or a similarly highly regulated industry, with a focus on quality assurance and control.

Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 19443, IAEA standards, and other relevant quality management systems.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to address diverse audiences and support collaborative solutions.

Experience in interfacing with project teams and supply chain organisations, including performing supplier audits.

Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, prepare reports, and provide strategic recommendations.

Fluency in English.

Desirable

Knowledge of nuclear sector regulations, site license conditions, and pressure/nuclear codes.

Additional language skills such as French.

Professional accreditation, such as IRCA certified auditor or membership of the Chartered Quality Institute.

Experience liaising with regulators, e.g., the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).

Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
