General Summary:
Responsible for all operations of the Layout Department. This includes close contact with Engineering, Operations, and other Quality Department personnel.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Health and safety of all team members.
• Operating and programming the CMM.
• Completing the layout of castings for PPAP.
• Completing the layout of pattern changes.
• Completing the layout of engineering changes.
• Communicate timely with all managers and supervisors.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
• Proficient knowledge of PC software applications including Word, Excel, 4D, Docushare, Minitab, CAD, Gage Track, and mainframe software (e.g., Blis-400).
• Ability to operate and program a CMM.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.
• Ability to perform gage calibration and tracking.
• Ability to use auditing tools such as calipers, micrometers, and digital equipment.
• Knowledge of SPC and MSA.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions
• The Layout Technician will reside in the office and on the production floor. Must be able to adhere to conditions of the plant.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and on their feet 50% on the production floor.
• Must be able to move about inside the office and in the plant.
• This position will operate a computer and other machinery in the plant.
• Must be able to frequently communicate with employees and other individuals in person and telephone.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Two-year technical degree or a combined equivalent of technical course work and related work experience.
• Prefer two years prior layout experience.
