The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable industry standards. This role supports manufacturing operations by verifying product quality, documenting inspection results, and assisting in the resolution of non-conformances while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of components and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Verify dimensional requirements using calibrated inspection equipment such as FARO/Romer Arm, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Interpret production travelers, blueprints, CAD models, procedures, specifications, and applicable industrial standards.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate inspection records in accordance with company quality procedures.
  • Identify and report non-conforming materials or components in accordance with established quality processes.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality personnel to resolve inspection issues and clarify requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing inspection documentation and assisting with audit requests when required.
  • Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met prior to use.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized inspection work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Control Manager.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree or vocational training in mechanical inspection, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience inspecting materials and mechanical parts used in the manufacture of high-speed machinery such as turbines, turbo expanders, compressors, pumps, rotating machinery, or similar equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, procedures, specifications, and production travelers.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) preferred.
  • Experience using inspection equipment such as FARO/Romer Arm, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other mechanical measuring instruments.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or shop floor environment.
  • Proficiency with computer programs and databases including MS Office, Outlook, and MRP systems.
  • Experience in pump, turbo expander, rotating equipment, or cryogenic industries is desirable but not required.

Work Environmental and Physical Demands

  • Completion of New Employee Safety Training, including Safety Awareness.
  • All safety-related training is provided and tracked by the Environmental Health & Safety department.
  • Job-specific training modules required by the employee’s Manager or Director must be completed as assigned.
