Position Title: Quality Control Inspector I
Reports to: Quality Supervisor

The Quality Inspector I performs mechanical, visual, electrical, and dimensional inspections of components, assemblies, finished goods, and incoming materials in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and procedures. This role verifies documentation accuracy, including DHR entries, supplier documentation (IQC only), certificates of compliance, and labeling, and records inspection results in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP). The Inspector I uses calibrated inspection tools to measure defined product attributes, follows established procedures, escalates issues when guidance is needed, and works under direct to moderate supervision while supporting company values and continuous improvement efforts.
Position Authority:
This position has the authority to accept or reject components, assemblies and finished goods to pre-established guidelines to assure acceptable components are approved and nonconforming components, assemblies and finished goods are not released for use or distribution.
Essential Job Functions:
• Performs visual, mechanical, electrical, and dimensional inspections of incoming material, in process product, labeling, and final assemblies.
• Records inspections and reviews DHRs for completeness, correctness, and compliance with GDP practices.
• Verifies label accuracy against approved artwork, component specifications, and documentation.
• Measures product attributes using calipers, templates, magna mike (wall thickness), pin gauges, rulers, and other inspection equipment.
• Reviews component specifications (CS/PS) to confirm whether a defect is listed and applicable to the product under inspection.
• Documents inspection results accurately into inspection forms, DHRs, or electronic systems.
• Performs AQL sampling plans accordingly
• Reviews supplier documentation packages; including drawings, purchasing specs, PS/CS, and CoCs for completeness, revision accuracy, and correctness (IQC only).
• Initiates nonconformance reports when documentation or product does not meet requirements.
• Communicates defects or documentation gaps professionally to Buyer/Planner, Engineering, or Quality leadership.
• Adheres to discrepancy reporting methods using NCRs, Quarantine tags, scrap tags, and hold processes.
Knowledge and Education:
• High school education or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year experience in an inspection environment using handheld inspection equipment preferred ASQ certification desirable.
Job Experience:
• Experience using basic inspection tools (e.g., calipers, gauges, simple electronic equipment).
• Basic experience performing visual/dimensional inspections per drawings/specifications.
• Able to review documentation for accuracy (DHRs and supplier documents).
• Able to handle chemicals safely.
Skills and Competencies:
• Able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
• Basic computer skills for entering and reviewing inspection records.
• Follow instructions and apply basic common-sense judgment.
• Performs basic math for measurement interpretation.
• Able to review documentation (DHRs, specifications, labels) for accuracy.
• Able to send clear email notifications when required (IQC only).
• Comfortable working with inspection tools and documentation systems.
Equipment Used:
Mechanical and electrical equipment, calipers, gauges, standard office equipment, carts, ladders, Laminar flow benches, and inspection and testing equipment.
Physical Requirements:
• Light physical activity performing non-strenuous, day-to-day activities of a primarily productive nature.
• Moderate lifting (35 lbs.), carrying (10 lbs.), bending, and prolonged sitting.
• Manual dexterity is sufficient to reach/handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and material. Intensive handwork.
• Ability to visually inspect small components and detailed features with normal or corrected vision.
• Requires the ability to identify and distinguish colors and shapes.
• Requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
• Well-lighted, air-conditioned, indoor laboratory/production setting with adequate ventilation.
