Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models, rigorously applying GD&T principles to determine part compliance.
- Perform source inspections at facilities
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final product evaluations.
- Perform detailed visual inspection
- Document defects and non-conformances accurately in the ERP/QMS system
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain files of inspection documents
- Understand basic weld inspection techniques, weld symbols and common welding defects.
- Review inspection records received for compliance
- Maintain inspection and measuring equipment
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper use of measuring tools and equipment
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate inspection records and reports
- Communicate with production, engineering.
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pass the J2 Color and Acuity eye test.
- As stated above within the primary responsibilities section
- Monitors and records relevant information during testing of equipment
- Performs mechanical inspections on components as received from the suppliers using either traditional and/or electronic tools.
- Perform in-process inspections and record measurements and other relevant information (traceability) concerning capital equipment of completed assemblies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3- years Assembly/Mechanical/Receiving inspection experience
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Knowledge in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, material specification and requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Exposed to loud noise while in the warehouse
- Exposed to moving parts while on the shop floor
- Exposed to occasional hot and /or cold weather depending on outside climate conditions and warehouse temperature since the shop floor is neither air conditional nor heated.
- Limited (5% or less) travel.
- Work in warehouse/shop floor environment setting 75% or the day, 25% of the day is spent at a computer in an office.
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES
- Adheres to facilities safety policies and attends all monthly safety training.
- Wears proper PPE while in the warehouse
- Attends all Human Resource directed training via classroom or HUB learning CBT
- Works well alone and in team environments
- Communicates well with other employees.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Writes, sends, and receives emails to internal employees and external clients
- Uses company software to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat/
- Uses office copier to scan and copy documentation.
- Ability to learn new software.
- May operate both JIB and Overhead Cranes
- May operate a Class IV Forklift (Hyster 50 – 170)
- Wears Fall Protection Harness when performing work at heights.
